HELP! ATI driver won't allow standby :(

ATI's site indicates that I already have the most current driver (it's supplied on
the xp cd). I think I'm stuck here unless someone has any ideas.
ATI's driver recommendation:

Thanks. Marcus

I wish I could help but I have the same exact problem with an HP LaserJet 3100 Driver
with same response from them...Someone on another forum indicated it is a problem
with power management and suggested looking for support from the microsoft site in
that area. If you find a fix let me know...

I couldn't find a solution for this problem for more than a year, but there is an
easy way to solve it (I found it by myself): Use the driver delivered with Windows
2000 (!) - it's version 5.0.2195.1 from december 1999. Maybe it's not the best driver
for this card, but it seems to be the only way to use the standby function in Windows
XP with this graphics adapter.
You need three files, here taken from an Windows 2000 installation:
\WINNT\inf\display.inf
\WINNT\system32\atidrab.dll
\WINNT\system32\drivers\atimpab.sys
Copy them to a folder of your choice (e.g. "ati") on your Windows XP system.
Now move the file atirage3.inf ("atirage3.old") from the directory \windows\inf to
another one to avoid that this driver is reinstalled again and again.
Delete the graphics adapter ("3D RAGE PRO AGP 2X") in the device manager and restart
the PC.
In the emerging Add New Hardware Wizard you don't need a connection to Windows Update.
Select the option of selecting the device yourself from the list. Choose the device
driver to install by yourself. Click on "(Choose) Volume" (or whatever Microsoft
calls it in english) and search the directory where you saved the file display.inf.
You will be asked whether you want to continue the installation although the signature
was not found; answer with "Yes".
After a restart you can adjust the screen resolution and take advantage of the standby
function.
If I can help you with this information it would be nice to leave a short message
in this thread.
