how to check 'computer resource'

Trying how to find the area that will show 'how much resource is being used or left'.
XP is so different than 98. The whole reason I upgraded was to get more resource
and now I can't find it. Tks., SM

Right click on the taskbar and select Task Manager. It gives pretty good information
on the resources your computer is using.

XP, like NT does not use resources the same as windows 3.0 up to me. In 98 you could
have a ton of free memory and no resources. It has to do with the way memory is
managed in 98. In 98 all programs need just a little bit of memory in the first
1 meg of ram. The measur of that first 1 meg of ram is called the resources. That
limitation is gone in xp so there is no need to measue somthing that is not there.
In xp you can measue how much ram is still free, but even that is not a major limitation
since it wil swap out to the hard drive. You only pay a performance price.
