I usea nd azteck MP3858SP-E v90 modem. this installed with xp drivers but fails to connect at any speed higher than 38000 kbps. previously connected with me 48800 kbps another problem is that the modem will not release the telephone port after disconecting from the internet i would be gratfull if some one could help to solve these issues. If unable to fix can anyone recomend a modem for XP the is very reliable

My modem did pretty much the same thing after installing XP. Try reducing the speed buffers for transmit and recieve. Go to Control Panel and Click on Phone and Modem options. Click on the Modems Tab, highlight your modem and click Properties. Click on the Advanced Tab and Click on Advanced Port Settings. Play with the slider bars for transmit and recieve untill (hopefully) you can get a reliable connection.
