Question about 'Rename the Recycle Bin'

I have a question about Rename the Recycle Bin:

Hi. I was unable to use either method (adding the dialogue via the .reg file or hacking the registry manually) as you said to get this to work. I tried to restart but that didn't work either. The XP powertoys don't have this option either -- you can remove it, but not rename.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} change the (Default) to whatever, it's probably blank.

To get at this tweak plus a host of other hidden settings, download X-Setup by Xteq Systems. (Create a Restore point before fiddling with anything.) P.S. Is this the "real" Morpheus, and if so, could you introduce me to Trinity? :) {Link: http://www.xteq.com/downloads/}

Copy this into new text document, then rename extention to ".reg"::: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}ShellFolder] "Attributes"=hex:50,01,00,20 "CallForAttributes"=dword:00000000 This is the only solution that worked for me. :)

For Windows XP (at least in Home Edition), open Registry. Then goto: My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}. In the right pane, right-click on "Default" and then click "Modify". You can then change "Recycle Bin" to whatever name you desire. Click "OK", then "X" out of the Registry. Finally, reboot your computer--and, hopefully, you'll be a happy camper.

that works... although you dont have to reboot... just right click on the desktop and choose refresh (at least with XP Pro)

Hi, I was unable to get any of the suggested methods to work! I like the icon, but just want to change the name, the tweak did not work either!

I've done everything suggested, and it does work. However, when I shut the pc down, and start it back up (reboot), it defaults back to Recycle Bin. Anymore suggestions??? Fred

THIS WORKED!!!!! Thanks much....not only does it not default back to "Recycle Bin", but there is now an option when you right click the icon, to "change name" that was NEVER there before. I think changing the D-word value to 0000000000000 is what made that option available...thanks again

The following wil always work in professional!

Open the registry and go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> SOFTWARE -> MICROSOFT -> WINDOWS -> SHELLNOROAM
-> MUICACHE

Look for the string: @C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHELL32.dll,-8964

Double click it and change the name from Recycle Bin to whatever.

In the same map you can also change the 'My computer' and 'My network' names. I found
that with some installations, this changes back after you changed it. With this,
the names stay.

Marco.
