I have a JVD digital video camcorder and when I hook up the cam using a firewire (1394), XP doesn't seem to detect the device at all... If anyone's had a chance to work with a digital camcorder using XP, please help... Thanks

I have a Sony Digital Camcorder hooked up and it worked without a hitch. As long as your 1394 adapter shows to be working in device manager I don't see why it would not recognize the camera.

Hmmm... the adapter shows that it's enabled and bridged... although i have a sony vaio desktop, the i.link adapter should work with just about every i.link enabled camcorders, right? anyone else has a non-sony camcorder and had similar probs? please help! thanks

let me provide more details here... i have a sony vaio desktop which came with a built in i.link adapter. i'm using a 4-6 pin firewire to connect my jvc cybercam (GVRD3U) and i can't seem to have the PC recognize the cam... the adapter seems to be working properly in the device manager menu. does this mean there's something wrong with the cam? or the PC doesn't support that particular model?? any guidance will be greatly appreciated!
