XP sharing as a client to 2000

I am trying to set up two computers to share a single wireless internet connection that currently exists on a Windows 2000 Machine. I have the correct cabling and have taken all the necessary steps, but it appears that XP does not want to act as a client to a 2000 machine. I cannot upgrade the 2000 unit to XP, I cannot move the internet connection to the XP unit, I simply need the XP unit to share the internet connection of the 2000 machine through the network that I have set up. Any help?

I've the same problem and cannot find Windows 2000 Machine for server and xp client. the local cabling is ok, I can see the machines each other and take documents each other but it appears that XP does not want to act as a client to a 2000 machine. I try to use wingate (because I have adsl and usb modem) but it seems incompatible to xp (I write it should be ok but...) as I redemarre the computer my personal configuration is not coming did you receive some help ?

I never got help. Please let me know if you find a solution that will allow my 2000 PC to provide internet connection sharing to my XP PC. Thanks, Tony

I find another solution : I'll be said to go to the internet site : www.analogx.com there you can telecharge a proxy who is without cost and do the same as wingate you can find how to make this through www.presence-pc.com/software/lan&partage/page7.php3 I'll try and it's ok now !!!

I have always search by IP address in the network search feature and have found the
computer you are trying to network to. Some XP name resolving problem. RIGHT CLICK>MY
NETWORK PLACES>SEARCH>put in static IP address

I had the same problem. Turned out to be a simple DNS problem. All I had to do was go into the TCP/IP properties of the connection and enter a couple of valid DNS servers. Everything worked fine after I did that.
