Go to Control Panel, then to the "Task Bar/Start-up Menu Icon" and click on it.
Go to the option asking if you want to: "AUTOHIDE THE TASK BAR." Remove the checkmark
from this feature indicating you do not want Auto Hide.

Make sure that the controls on your monitor has not been reset. This is apart from
any settings in Windows. If your monitor has been reset to stretch the image too
much, the taskbar, usually on the bottom of the screen, will not be there. You'll
have to play with the monitor settings to shrink the image. If it's not a monitor
problem, then it's probably a Windows configuration problem.

In control panel the task bar shows 'always show at top of page,' and 'task bar locked'.
Autohide is not checked. I've just changed to AOL and cant move their task bar.
Google, Yahoo and ebay task bars are there as I acessed them by accident once but
cant remember how!! I have XP Windows.

yeah me too...mine has disappeared.
when i unchecked the "auto-hide" function, the screen 'shifts' up, or down, depending
on where you had your taskbar before it disappeared. Mine was on the top of the screen
so when i unchecked the "auto-hide" function, my screen shifted down. When i clicked
on my desktop and dragged the mouse towards where my taskbar would be, it wont be
let me bring the mouse all the way to the end of the screen. Im guessing the taskbar
is still there, but for some reason, it's invisible. anyone have a solution?

Worked for me, too - thanks! If anyone has any idea WHY this works, I'd love to
know. :-)

the ALT+Ctrl+Delete thing works. press "e" at the processes tab, and look for explorer.exe
and end it, on the top left corner of the task manager, theres the "file". click
on the first option, "new task(run...)" and type in "explorer.exe" and hit enter.
the taskbar appeared back for me :) but it seems everything has been reset. the "notification"
area of the taskbar, the one on the extreme right that displays the time, connections,
msn, and other stuff, they're all reset and not there anymore so i had to re start
all the those programs manually.

I've had this same problem on my son's pc. I'm not sure what he did but now when
Windows boots, there is no taskbar. I checked the processes but don't even see explorer.exe
listed. When I tried running it through Task Manager, I get an error stating that
I don't have access. Since his user account is an admin account, I'm not sure why
this would happen.
Any ideas?

This is how to do it:
- Start a new thread
- Describe what happened, and any changes you may have made etc
- State what you have already tried to restore your Task Bar
