Question about 'Speed Up Dial-Up Networking Initialization'

I have a question about Speed Up Dial-Up Networking Initialization:

I am running a pentium 4, 1.8 gig speed chip with a creatix modem. Under previous systems of ME and 98, I had good connection set up manually, but with XP it dials really slowly, sometimes cutting off before its connected. also, my computer freezes up, on disconnection from the net. Its shown that the manual connection is not responding, yet when I check the ctrl, alt an delete screen, its not even listed there. as a result, I have to reboot every time I disconnect, and with a 2 hour cut off, this is cumbersome to say the least. any help would be much appreciated, thankyou, Deano

you have many problems not just one, 1 make sure your modem is XP compatable, if it is make sure you have the right drivers 2 re check all your dialup and modem settings.. i.e. acces number, dns and alt dns numbers, and ofcourse make sure you have your damn username and password in right for your ISP.
