Question about 'Connect to a Windows XP or 2000 system with a Windows 95, 98, or Me system over a Network'

I have a question about Connect
to a Windows XP or 2000 system with a Windows 95, 98, or Me system over a Network:Okay,
I will try this again, since I made an error the first post and it didn't show. This
is my problem. I have two machines. One with XP Pro and two NIC cards, the other
with ME and one NIC. I have both computers running to a Linksys 5-port Workgroup
Hub, which also has my DSL modem connected to it. What I would like to do is have
both machines able to share files and connect through the DSL, but so far, the only
way I've been able to do this is by having one NIC on the XP machine go straight
to the DSL modem, and the other NIC on the XP go to the other computer. The downfall
to this is:the ME machine gets a 192...IP instead of the IP from the DHCP through
the DSL. If I didn't host internet multiplayer games on the ME machine this wouldn't
be a problem, but if someone could guide me through the setup so both machines are
sharing files, and recieving IP's from the DSL DHCP that would be great, if it's
possible. TIA

Does your dsl provider allow for multiple IP's to your site. 192...... is a private
address usually used for in house networks. I think your going to need a router.

Actually I work for the provider, but yes I do get multiple ip's from the DSL DHCP.
I was hoping to avoid extra hardware if I could, but I think a router might be my
only solution.
