If you are familiar with the 95/98 start menu customization, using the "classic"
style as mentioned above will enable you to organise your preferred applications
into sub-menues. Eg you can put all your Internet applications into one submenu called
"Internet", from which you can access browser, chat, or messaging applications etc.
Simply "create new... folder" when in that customise view, then add your link as
you would do in win9x. What is nice though is that you can keep the new organisation
when you switch back to the XP start menu!
Also you may be aware that in win98 you can simply drag items in the start menu
to different places in the start menu, so you can put some items nearer to the top
or move them into different subfolders. The same thing can be done with the XP start
menu, just hold down your left mouse button on the item you want to move, and it
will go dark blue (or highlight). Now you can drag that item to another place (evn
into subfolders) in the start menu list.
I think you may need to be logged in as Administrator to do this, however.
