Question about 'How do I display the date in the Tray (next to the clock)?'

In XP the date and day are displayed with the clock (if you have your taskbar at least three high. I only see the option to display all or none. I just want the clock and am looking for a way to kill the day and date. This may be the antithesis of the subject but is still related.

try typing msconfig in your run command, there are tabs such as start up and boot that load progs and things such as date and time, volume, etc..... date and time should be in there to check off so it doesn't load

If you increase the size of taskbar in Windows XP, you'll find that it also displays the date. (=

I am looking for the same thing...just the clock (I have the taskbar on the right side of the screen and the day and date take up alot of room). I would prefer just the time!

If you have the taskbar at the top or bottom and only 1 row high, it will display only the time. But I guess if that was an option you would have thought of it already.

My taskbar is only one row high. My taskbar is also locked. I don't want my taskbar 3 rows high, and I want it to remain locked. Does anyone know how to leave it locked and at one row whilst still displaying day, date and time? [It would obviously have to be really really small]

Just check out TClockEx (http://users.iafrica.com/d/da/dalen/tclockex.htm), it's a great freeware utility...

Try changing your theme...It worked for me. I changed the team, unlocked the taskbar. Resized it and the date was gone...

Oldschool has it right. It may only be necessary to change the appearance from Windows XP Style to Windows Classic Style, then back again. I did this without changing anything on the taskbar and the time appeared without the date.

Tim, did you ever get an answer to your question? I use XP and TClockEx. I cannot find a way to keep the date & time always showing in my systray. And, like you, I want unlocked and 1 row high. Currently, the fonts do not look too small. I just need the systray to be wider so that the time shows up.

Hey,
Just wanted to let you know that TClockEx was a great suggestion! I was having the
same problem, where I wanted the full date to always show (and weekday too)... Your
link to TClockEx was broken, but I did a Google search and found it and downloaded
it. I <3 it!
Thanks so much,
Heather

In order to get rid of TclockEX, go to control panel, add remove programs and un-install. To get your task bar at "1" if you hover over it, you should see an arrow that is vertical and you can move the task bar size with that
