How can you change the start menu button's color without installing stupid software that just slows down your system? Isn't there some kind of bitmap or something that you can just replace? If you know of how to do this let me know please. Thank you.

Yes, there is, but it DOES require the install of software, but only to EXTRACT the windows image files. Download Style Builder from tgtsoft.com, load the windows xp style (it tells you how) and then go down to the start menu options in the tree. Right click on the start menu image and click edit. It'll then open the start menu image(s) in Paint or whatever is your default bitmap app!
