Question about 'Getting Network Neighborhood to recognize newly attached computers'

I have a question about Getting
Network Neighborhood to recognize newly attached computers:
I recently purchase a new XP system and had two NIC cards installed. I have one
NIC attached to my Cable modem and the second one attached to a 4-port Netgear hub
which is then connected to an IBM Thinkpad running Windows 95. I have been able
to get internet and email to work on both machines and I am able to ping the XP machine
by name and by IP from the 95 machine. However, I am unable to ping the 95 machine
by name from the XP machine. Furthermore, I cannot get the 95 machine to find the
server in Network Neighborhood (which means I cannot get print sharing or file sharing
to work).
At this point, I know the network connection is good. I've set the default gateway
on the 95 machine to the IP address of the first machine. I've made sure both machines
are referencing the correct workgroup and that NT logon has been unchecked (so only
windows logon remains. I've set up a user account on my XP machine for the 95 machine
to log into. Any ideas? At one point, I did have the XP machine showing up in Network
Neighborhood but even then, I wasn't able to print share and when I clicked on the
computer name, it said no matching network machine found.

I have the same set-up with a 95 machine and XP with a Netgear 5 port switch. The
DSL modem acts as one NIC, and the other is integrated (Dell machine). The 95 machine
requires a little more effort than XP to get set-up. It could be a couple of things, but
I'll just point you to these 2 troubleshooters. If this doesn't do it, post back
and I'll a/b the settings with you.

Try going to the XP CD look for the Valuadd folder open it then open Msft then Net,
you will find Netbeui files in there and the instructions on how to install it on
the XP machine this gives you compatibiliy with Win9X and Win2K all of which have
Netbeui installed by default
It worked for me
Cheers

I have 2 Windows XP computers and can only ping one. But other than that, everything
is the same other than i am using a Belkin gateway router and a cox cable modem instead
of a hub and DSL. Any suggestions?
