Question about 'Change a file association on the fly'

I have a question about Change
a file association on the fly:<
I get a lot of e-mails that have ATTACHMENTS that have the ext '.email' which i haven't
been able to open. So trying to open these attachments with the different programs
i have on my computer, when i got to Frontpage i forgot to uncheck the box 'always
open this file with this program'. Unfortunately frontpage won't do the job either,
so now i can't keep on trying the other programs. I tried to right-click as said
in the article but i get no such option (open with... or properties) only 'Open,
Print, Save as... and Save all...' Two more options are dimmed ('add' and 'delete')
(I have the Dutch version so i hope i translated the names correctly)
So what do i do?
And does anyone by any change know how to open those attachments? I received them
in hotmail but can use outlook express if necesary.

do you know the sender(s) of these attachments? if yes, ask them to send them in
a format you can easily open them with, or get the software that creates them. if
you don't know the sender(s), DO NOT OPEN any attachments for any reason. that's
how you get viruses, my friend.

You can change the program used to open different file types like this: in an open
folder, pulldown 'Tools', click 'Folder options'. Select the 'File types' tab, and
highlight the file extension in question. Click on the 'Advanced' button near the
bottom. Now you can edit the way that file extension is handled.

btw, a little research indicates the '.email' extension should be an Outlook Express
file. Hope all this helps.

Yes use the folder option and delete this unused extention from the file types will
solved your problem. I suggest you to use and install X-Setup a freeware but nice
program. You can add two program of your own to your context menu whether you need
to try open some unknown program.

thx for the help Rex.
i was able to reset everything to the way it was before, by doing what you told me.
However, trying to open those '.email' attachments with outlook express (or outlook)
was no succes. Nothing happend in fact (as if i hadn't given comment to open it at
all).
I did get to open one using the internet explorer as the program to open it.
Hope that can be of help to anyone who has encountered the same problem. (Though
i wouldn't mark it as the program to always open it with)
