Some of the tweak progs allow renaming of system objects - I think X-setup is one of them and it's free... http://www.xteq.com/ Careful and good luck...

I installed the TweakUI (ver 1.33 i think) used in 98 and ME that is not included in the power toys and it allowed me to change the name of the recycle bin with no problems....

The X-setup thing does work in Windows XP, just it doesn't add 'Rename' to the right-click menu, you have to hit F2 to edit the name. simple

this works on xp 1. Click Start / Run 2. Type regedit and press enter. 3. Open the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT folder 4. Open the CLSID folder 5. Open the {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}folder 6. Open the ShellFolder folder 7. Change the "Attributes Data value from "40 01 00 20" to . Windows XP users rename this to "70 01 00 20". after you change the 40 to 70 then right click on the recycle bin then goto EXPLOER HIGHTLIGHT THE REYCYCLE BI CLICK ON FILE RENAME DONE IF YOU DON'T WANT A NAME JUST THE ICON Make sure the NumLock key in on. Hold down the Alt key while typing 0160 on your number pad. 4. After typing in 0160, let go of the Alt key. You’ll see a blank space inserted with your cursor. 5. Press Enter to save the new name.
