How to disable mcafee 6 virusscan splash screen in Windows XP

i have a question about get
rid of irritating splash screens:
in mcafee virusscan 6, is the splash screen for vshield loading with windows xp
causing problems or delay?, edit this
simple registry entry and the vshield splash
screen will no longer load at startup in windows xp home or pro only.
first click start, then run
in the open line type: regedit
hit enter and registry editor should start.
now goto this registry entry:
hkey_local_machine\software\network associates\tvd\shared components\on access scanner\vshield\system
scan\general
in the right window, the last registry entry key should be --- > bskipsplash, double
click on
this value name to go into edit mode, then
where the value data says "0" -zero, change that to "1". then just exit the registry
editor
and reboot, and now you'll notice the mcafee vshield splash screen doesn't pop up
when windows xp starts now, vshield just quietly
loads in the background and your windows xp system will start even faster!
--good luck!!

Oey!! McAfee's Splash is VERY very very anoying!
Get rid of the bloody thing:
Disable McAfee (7.x) splash screen:
01. regedit
02. Goto the following location in the registry;
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Network Associates\TVD\VirusScanEnterprise\CurrentVersion
03. Locate the option "bSkipSplash".
04. Right click and choose "modify".
05. Change the "0" to "1"
06. reboot (if you wish)
No more nagging McAfee Splash Screen.

For McAfee 8, make the following change in your registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"MCAgentExe"="c:\\PROGRA~1\\mcafee.com\\agent\\mcagent.exe /nosplash
(adding the /nosplash parameter to the mcafee agent executable)

The fix Peter mentions does not work for VirusScan ENTERPRISE (what most companies
use). For VSE 8.0i, the registry key is located here:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Network Associates\TVD\VirusScan Enterprise\CurrentVersion
then set "bSkipSplash" to a value of '1' and you're good to go!
or for the lazy, err, clever:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Network Associates\TVD\VirusScan Enterprise\CurrentVersion]
"bSkipSplash"=dword:00000001
Cheers!

The posted instructions for McAfee v8 also work for v9. This is home version and
not the enterprise version. This supresses the silly security center startup.

When using Mcafee 8 Enterprise on windows 64 bit the key to change is
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Network Associates\TVD\VirusScan Enterprise\CurrentVersion]

for VSE 8.5i Enterprise
add /NOSPLASH parameter to
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"ShStatEXE"="\"C:\\Program Files\\McAfee\\VirusScan Enterprise\\SHSTAT.EXE\" /STANDALONE
/NOSPLASH"

If you are using McAfee VirusScan 8 Enterprise they moved the location it is at:
hkey_local_machine\software\network associates\tvd\VirusScan Enterprise\CurrentVersion
Look for "bskipsplash" and change it to 1.
