XP and 98 have different drivers, this hardware may not work under XP as alot of hardware
won't mostly older hardware. You might check for drivers on the manufactures website.

Should be an easy one, sounds like your pc has got plug and play operating system
installed set in the bios...
Sometimes when switching between 2 os's the system doesnt correctly reallocate the
hardware irq's try setting to non plug and play and reset escd configuration data
(or set to pluga and play if the other way around) select reset escd configuration
data to enabled and reboot into XP, then try rebooting into win98 and back again
to xp....
Just to check all is working again..
