Question about 'What to do about error messages during Windows startup'

I have a question about What to do about error messages during Windows startup:

I keep getting an error box at every startup.I have denied startup to different programs.Didn't help. What puzzles me is that the event log or error list says that it is a mcafee vso/mcshield "cannot find file specified".Mcafee went to hell after it said in an alert that some kazaa music files showed characteristics of vbs loveletter virus.Soon after that activeshield was damaged.I ran housecall and avg.No viruses were found.I did dump everything that was kazaa.Microsoft says that my prob is a device driver issue.I can't delete mcafee(not yet anyway!!!!)but I did manage to disable both vso and mcshield.I still get the error. My printer is xp compatible(epson c40ux)What should I do next?Hopefully not system recovery!

Charles,I dont have the report now.Micro**** says that i have no error reports. It was there last night.(I should have printed it)I looked up my error logs from this a.m. and found that True Vector Engine listed under application error and a yellow warning sign listed MsiInstaller.I am still checking, but I believe that I finally deleted Mcafee.I found out that no other program depends on mcafee,so it is a safe delete.I have been checking programs to see if their is a way of narrowing this down before I go to system configuration and that process.(I am new to this and I dont want to get in over my head)This is always an error at startup,I have recovered from 2 online crashes. It happens after clicking on IE.Or if I click the red x on the error box/small window.I followed the error report last night and they gave device driver message with advice about 3 possible causes.I still wonder about the mcafee thing cuz thats when this all started.I will continue to look at history etc.. to see if I can find that error report.Thanx,Jim P
