Updating the BIOS is one of those Don't fix it if it ain't broke kind
of things. Unless you have a specific problem that only a BIOS flash will fix, look
for an alternative. Only a detailed / explicit explanation of the BIOS flash and
the problem it is to fix will support the need for the upgrade. Only the MOBO manufacturer
will know if the Flash will help. If you’re only upgrading because It might help
,then it most likely won’t. And there is a high probability you will destroy your
BIOS in the process. If after all else fails you still see the need to upgrade,
find a reliable PC technician and have them perform the Flash.

The following is the place to get what you want. I flashed mine and I have a 7594,
it worked great. Mine needed the flash to upgrade for XP but if your's is running
XP ok now with what you have I would leave it alone. It's your choice.

Go to compaq site and do searches for downloads and bios upgrades..Ensure you get
the right one for your mother board...after that, it's simply and you WON'T destroy
your BIOS and the world will not end..it's not a complex thing to do...(like changing
oil, right filter, right oil...piece of cake)..

the only reason i want to do it, is because it wont boot bootable cds anymore (after
a virus a while back). If you put in a bootable CD it ignores it and sometimes if
you put in a non-bootable cd it says that the hard drive cannot be found! What can
i do?

I'm looking to flash the bios on a compaq MB I got from a friend for free. I just
strolled upon these message posts in my searching. The compaq website didn't offer
NE bios upgrades from wut I found. I figured that they weren't likely to since,
the type of person that would buy a compaq wouldn't be the type of person that would
know how to or want to flash their bios, if they even knew wut it is.

Hi , I have a "Time" computer and I'm running windows XP Pro and should have a
80Gb hard drive ( this was 80Gb when i bought it). After a year and half worth of
usage which inlcuded;one complete re-install, downloading quite a lot of large files
and putting onto cd and then deleting the origianal download from my hard-drive.I
noticed something.
Now according to the the little yellow information box when i hover above the little
picture of one of my three ( partitioned) hard-drives I have only 54.2Gb worth of
hard drive,so this begs the question what happend to the other 26.2Gb that should
be in my computer??
I have been told that i need to "Flash my BIOS" i'm not sure what this will achieve, and
whether it will work.Any help would be most appreciated!.

updated BIOS went to this SINGLE BOOT SCREEN

After upgrading the Compaq Presario 7594 with the correct bios from the above listed
website. Now entering the BIOS shows 1 menu. Its called One-Time-Boot, and it gives
me the option of choosing the a: drive, cd drive, or hard drive. That is the only
menu, and those are the only options.
WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO ALL THE MENUS!????? Power save, boot options, peripheral
devices, pci stuff, interrupt stuff, etc, etc, etc. Its all gone. What gives?
I upgraded in hopes that the additional RAM I added would be recognized. Any ideas?

I have an idea--Stay out of this forum--these people are novices... Keep searching
for the answer, there has to be a way to reset your bios (People have been doing
that since computers first came out)---It just seems to be a little harder to find
in XP--Good Luck..

Try installing the new Intel USB drivers.
It worked for me.
