I have a question about Connect
to a Windows XP or 2000 system with a Windows 95, 98, or Me system over a Network:
I have 2 computers, one with Windows XP and the other Windows ME. I also have a router
setup for the 2 computers to connect to the internet. My problem is I can not see
either computer in My Network Places. I ran the network wizard as stated in XP. Any
help sure would be appreciated.

run ipconfig from command prompt in xp and winipcfg in 98 command prompt.
also go to run line and type \\computer name of other machine on the network and
come back with the results from both machines trying to reach the other machines.
workgroups must be the same in both ,and ip addresses must be almost the same with
just the fourth set of octects differing for communication to work. example is as
follows 192.168.0.1 xp
me 192.168.0.2 me
if the first 3 sets dont match they will not communicate over the network thru tcp/ip
and you will need to add nwlink ipx/spx to both.

Can both computers connect to the internet, and just not the network, or is it totally
down? If totally down, check to see if your router has an uplink switch on it. If
it does, switch it and try again.
