I have a question about Things that slow down system bootup:

Before Windows starts, I always get a message saying that the disk drives all need checking. Nothing is ever found wrong. It takes 3-5 minutes to go through this process.

Are you running NTFS or FAT32... if FAT32, expect it to be slower... let me say expect it not not be as quick as a new os should... But the part about "disk drives all need checking" that is someething you definitely need to get to the bottom of.... possibly a corrupted sector on the HD.... Have you defragged the drive yet?
