It is possible to get rid of it you must go onto the menu bar of any folder and then to "folder option" and click the "file types" tab and there will be a list of file extensions select the one you want to change click the change button and select the program you want to use, if you do not see the right program listed you will have to click "browse" to find it yourself. I have a question about How do I turn off the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer as my default image viewer?:

doesn't work with ACDSee v2.41. tried it before doing the google search. just more microsucks bs.

Thanks, Adam. This solved my problem with out editing the registry. It is really easy to set programs to open with various file extensions by selecting folder options on the tools menu.
