If you're a "computer guru" why wouldn't you know that XP would need more Ram to
run than 98???

Check to see if you have the Windows XP HotFix Q811493 patch installed in your computer
(you can check by going into control panel > add/remove programs). If installed,
the patch creates immense slowdown on windows xp systems, creating the use of 90-150%
more system resources. Delete the patch and you should see windows return to normal
speed.
This security patch was used to prevent a hacker from raising his privilege level
on a vulnerable system. However, he would need physical access to the machine, via
the node or a local intranet. This patch is not necessary for home based users

hey, iv got the problem of that silly hotfix Q811493, and its hard core slowing my
computer down. I dont know alot about computers, but iv tried every way that i know
of removing it, but it just wont go away! Iv tried to go the a add/remove programs
thing in control panel, and i click onto it and it doesnt have a remove buttn. Iv
tried to do a search on my computer and to delete it that way and it just comes back.
Id even delete it out of the recycle bin but it would re-appear the next time i started
up my computer.is there anyone who could tell me another way to go about it? Coz
im totally at a loss! its real frustrating. Your help would be much appreciated!
