Question about 'Resolving Hardware Conflicts'

I have a question about Resolving Hardware Conflicts:

I no longer get any sound from my computer. I troubleshooted exactly how it was explained in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. There appears to be no conflict anywhere. I even installed new speakers and I get the same results. No sound. Any ideas out there?

This week I had my system rebuilt. I got it back and every thing worked good except the sound. There are no conflicts or errors that shor. I am at a loss to find an answer. It looks like this question has not had an answer for some time.
