Start the computer to Safe Mode with Command Prompt.
At the command prompt, type cd\, and then press ENTER.
Type cd\windows\system32, and then press ENTER.
Type osuninst.exe, and then press ENTER.
On screen instructions will guide you through the uninstall process to revert to
the previous operating system.
This procedure can only be performed by users logged on as Administrator or a user
with administrative rights

If you really want to uninstall XP, take a win98/95/me boot disk and insert it in
the drive. Boot to floppy, then type fdisk.
enable large disk support (y)?
delete active partitions (y)?
remove logical dirves (y)?
restart computer
You have a bare drive....
Maxtor.com has maxblastII and it will create a great boot disk to reformat and partition
you drive (its free!) just make sure that you have a System/boot disk for your new
OS.
You really should give XP a chance, unless you are running video on a Celeron, it
is a stable decent OS. Just takes some getting used to. And this forum is a wealth
of Information!

to put the poor thing out of its misery, use the tried and true "One Whack; One Uninstall"
method with a 10 lb sledge. if you use three whacks, go to confession immediately.
