Question about 'Top five reasons why Windows doesn't support your hardware '

Posted by Brad (1 messages posted)

I have a question about Top five reasons why Windows doesn't support your hardware :

I have just finished loading my new hardware/software program MpegTV Station/USB. Device Manager shows that my driver is enabled. When I try to open up my MpegTV Station program I get a "initial H/W Fail" error message. By the way, I got the updated driver installed and have tried every compatibility setting for it. Any suggestions please? Thank you.....

Hi Brad, I had similar probs installing my Epson C70 printer (USBcable), everything went on my computer ok, but the thing wouldnt work when I tried to print out something. Although my printer is only 6 months old, XP HE wouldnt recognise the USB on this printer, I downloaded a patch from USBMAN but that didnt put it right. It is something to do with the SiS 7001 usb chipset and XP HE. Im not saying this is the prob with yours, but it might be as well to take this in to consideration, but Im sorry I dont know what the solution is for your prob. Finaly got over mine by using a parallel cable connection...............hoppy

You don't worry, i have found the solution to it. - 1 Insert CD Mpeg TV Station USB. but don't run nothing. - 2 Get into to Device Manager then click the right key of the mouse on the Intel PC Camera pro. Select the properties you will see the Driver like the picture below. Click on the “Update Driver” to change the driver. - 3 When you see the update wizard, please select the install from a list or specific location (Advance). - 4 Then select the Don't search, I will choose the driver to install. - 5 Entering the Hardware Update Wizard, in the window will appear on Model: - 6 Please select the "Spca506A","SPCA506A USB Camera" or "SPCA506A Sunplus USB Camera" and click the next. Click to continue anyway when you see the message box. When you see the message the message: Completing Hardware Update Wizard that means the driver has been update. - After that perhaps It will appear again Hardware Update Wizard now to install the Driver:SPCA506A, WDM Video Capture , also Click to continue anyway - Restart you PC. If you want to observe the drivers installed get into again Device Manager and Check out on Imaging Device:SPCA506A, WDM Video Capture, and on Universal Serial Bus Controller:SPCA506A Sunplus USB Camera. If Those already is, you are ready to watch TV. - Finally, Execute the USBTV application to watch the TV. You can send me a Mail , in case that you still have problems.

Hello, Ive gone through the first 4 steps of your solution and have found myself to be stuck.. I attempt to "4 Then select the Don't search, I will choose the driver to install." and it doesn't come up with anything.. Now I might be missing something... such as an update to update to... (Im not sure where to download the update)... I was wondering if I could have a bigger of a push to get this thing working... Thank you Carlin

I downloaded the updated drivers for XP (although they are unsigned) from www.linden-technology.com when I first bought the USB-TV100 about a year ago and at first they worked fine, but every now and again they seem to get corrupted and I get sound but no picture. If I click on the motion capture button in Mentor TV to test it, it appears to work i.e. it displays the elapsed time and n frames captured but playback comes up with the message MCI driver not ready and then the window where it would display the captured video comes up with No Device in the title. It happened again yesterday and despite re-installing the drivers I still can't get it to work again. In the documentation with the updated drivers it has 3 dialog boxes indicating that 3 drivers are to be installed but now I only get two coming up. Presumably this is what is causing the problem. Does anyone know what device I should look for in the Device manager so I can re-install the driver correctly ( I have tried the SPCA506A, WDM Video Capture device, Intel PC Pro Camera and USB Root Hub that the camera is plugged into and still can't get it to work). Alternatively is there a more recent set of drivers for this device ? Thanks in advance if anyone can help me out with this.

what the crap? I have tried every thing, after i went thru those good steps above, with the sun whatever, it puts up the frame of the tv app, but still says "h/w init" fail. is there a website besides linden (because its no-ip seems to have failed it) that i can get updated drivers, i went to driverguide.com and they point to kwolrd.com or something, and they only support dvdtv or something now. im really frustrated because i just bought this of ebay and it doesnt work, i don't wanna be ripped again. :( -Chip

I am having trouble finding a website for updates on this MPEG TV program. I had the H/W fail thing for a while, but now I get the program up and working with my Windows XP computer, and only when I download any kind of updates from the Windows Update site do I have any problems. The TV Capture comes up, but when I try to capture a still image, the whole computer shuts down and it says something about updating the driver or something. BT848 shows up a lot too. I don't know if I really need updates, and I don't know where to get them. Please help!

the solution is to conect a cable in the mpgtv out plug and conect to the audio in of your pc. it has to be simultaneous with the video cable but separately.

A solution to the "Initial H/W fail" error message

Dear All. I was getting the same error message (Initial H/W fail) while I was trying to install a BT878A PC-TV tuner (PCI) card. After a lot of install-unistall trials, I managed to make it working by simply DISABLING the "hyper-threading" option from the BIOS steup. Chris

Dear All, One more solution to the "Initial h/w fail" error nessage. It seems that the installed antivirus does not allow the card (or device) to be installed properly. So follow the 5 steps: 1. Uninstall all relative (to the card/device) device drivers 2. Uninstall the antivirus 3. Clean completely the registry from the antivirus entries 4. Install again the card/device 5. Install again the antivirus Chris
