Question about 'Enable Iconic Preview of Bitmaps'

I have a question about Enable Iconic Preview of Bitmaps:

The article mentions how to apply this if you disabled iconic preview for icons, but I can't figure out how to do it. I ran regedit and looked under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ Ico but there is nothing there for default icon. I'm probably missing something, any ideas?

You need to add the default icon key in the right place(s).

First of all, add a Default Icon key to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ico and make the default
string read: %1

Then, look at the Default string for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ico

Whatever it reads you need to find that key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ and do the same
thing there. For example, if the Default string of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ico reads
'icofile' then you need to find HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\icofile and add the DefaultIcon
key there, too.

Feel free to e-mail me if you don't get it. Be sure to tell me what the default
string for you HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ico key reads.
