Windows Picture and Fax Viewer solutions didn't work.

I have a question about How
do I turn off the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer as my default image viewer?:
I tried both methods described. One by going through the
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ CLSID\ {e84fda7c-1d6a-45f6-b725-cb260c236066}\ shellex.
path and also by going through the
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ SystemFileAssociations\ image\ ShellEx\ ContextMenuHandlers.
path, and neither worked for me. I'm running Windows XP. Granted, i haven't restarted
yet, (don't think it matters when dealing w/ regedit) but was just wondering if anyone
else had the same trouble.

ugggh, someone told you wrong anyway...
The simplest way is to search HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT for strings called 'PerceivedType'
and delete or rename any of them that whose data reads 'image.'

Ah, thanks folks. I did restart the computer but it still didn't work so I just installed
tweakui and it works fine now. I love the rapid response though, if M$ tech support
could see you folks in action i think they'd need a double bypass ;)

Interesting comment, since this service is free and m$ is far from that, sort of
like Linux compared to Windows... Hmmm... %^)

I can't find any other discussions on what to do with TweakUI to get the Viewer to
open up. Mine still just doesn't do anything (even though it's associated with images
and SHOULD) when I try to open it. I've installed TweakUI.. is there a setting I
need to set? I've looked through and can't find anything that pertains to the Image
Viewer.

Anyone? Someone?! This is really annoying; I still haven't found a way to fix it.
