question about gettin Wake-On-LAN to work with Windows XP

My problem is that the magic packet is sent sucessfully when I manually put the computer
in hibernate mode, but when i shutdown the computer from start menu, it will not
work. Is it because my BIOS only works for wake on LAN when the computer is in shutdown
state 3? I want it to be able to turn on when i shut down the computer. (soft shutdown)
Is there any configurations that i can do to Windows XP to hibernate when I choose
the shutdown option?

I am the same thing.
In S3 and S4 mode I can wake on lan, but in S5 mode wake on lan is not good.
The problem was the Xp driver of 3C905C.
With 3Com driver, Magic packet wake up in 3 mode.
(excuse me for my english !)

I presume you are going into hibernation by pressing the power button for five seconds.
To do it from the Start Menu, hover the mouse over Standby, press Shift, and the
option becomes Hibernate.
