If you are using IE then just set the internet security level to high, that should stop all the pop-up spam, but also limit where you can go.

maybe they want more detailed instructions Right-click on "my computer" and select "manage", then double click "services and applications" now double click "services"and i large list will appear, highlight "Messenger and hit the "stop" button that appears at the top, once done that right-click "messenger and select it properties and change the start-up type to "disabled" click ok and viola it's done. help any?
