I have a question about Stop

Can someone please tell me how to open the Services window (services.msc)? This is
all new to me and I can't figure out how to open the window. Thanks

Windows XP
Click Start->Control Panel
Click Performance and Maintenance
Click Administrative Tools
Double click Services
Scroll down and highlight "Messenger"
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
Click the STOP button.
Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar
Click OK

The easiest way is to just type services.msc in Start Menu > Run .

Thank you for your help. It sure seems to be working. What, if any, are the disadvantages
of disabling Messenger?

Do you (or any program on your computer) ever use it? If no then there should
be no problem with disabling it if you find that something is not working turn
it on to test if it needs that service or lookin the programs help files if you
(or a program) need it you might turn it on only when you need it regards, Adam
