Question about 'Downloading Windows Updates'

I have a question about Downloading
Windows Updates:

I have installed Win XP. My Automatic Windows UPdate works well, but when I try to Update Manually it freezes up during the scan for updates part at 0 % and never moves on from there. I had found the solution to this problem a while ago, by changing a setting but for the life of me I can't remember what I did. Can anyone help? Has anyone else had this problem.? Please post and/or email me at djjt.bolton@cogeco.ca. Thank you.

I had the same problem and found the answer in the MS Update Troubleshooter. Follow this link or simply use these steps to correct the problem: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/#Problem%20Downloading/Installing%20a%20Software%20(Non-Driver)%20item Please re-register the following files. Run these at the command line: (1) regsvr32 msscript.ocx (2) regsvr32 dispex.dll (3) regsvr32 vbscript.dll (4) regsvr32 scrrun.dll
