Question about 'Downloading Windows Updates'

I have a question about Downloading
Windows Updates:

I have a question about Downloading Windows Updates: I have installed Win XP. My Automatic Windows UPdate works well, but when I try to Update Manually it freezes up during the scan for updates part at 0 % and never moves on from there. I had found the solution to this problem a while ago, by changing a setting but for the life of me I can't remember what I did. Can anyone help? Has anyone else had this problem.? Please post and/or email me at djjt.bolton@cogeco.ca. Thank you.

Have allowed cookies to be accepted on your PC. Also check IE's security settings and lower the internet setting, but be sure to reset to medium once you have the update. PS- seems to me XP acts a bit differt on each PC. Come to understand your PC personality.

Hi,

If It Hangs At 0% Try Going To Control Panel, Network, Under The Configuration Tab,
Scroll Down To The TCP/IP Listing For Either The "Dial-Up Adapter" Or Your Network
Card (If Your Doing Ethernet For DSL, etc), And Double Click On It (Click On The
OK). Click On The "DNS Configuration" Tab. Select The Enable DNS Radio Button. In
The Host Window Type In Your Login User Name. Just The Name, Do NOT Add The @ Sign
And Whatever Follows It, If Used. Then In The "Domain Name" Window Type In The Name
Of Your ISP (xyznet.net, Or abcxyz.com, etc.). Click All Of The OK's And When Ask
If You Want To Restart Answer NO, Then Restart Your Machine Manually Using "Start",
"Shutdown", etc. After The Machine Restarts Try Your Updates Again. Should Work!
Did For Me.

Start a new thread with a meaningful title and give a full description of the problem, any error messages etc so that you can better be helped.
