Question about 'Connect to a Windows XP or 2000 system with a Windows 95, 98, or Me system over a Network'

I have a question about Connect
to a Windows XP or 2000 system with a Windows 95, 98, or Me system over a Network:
I have a cable modem to router, router to computers (XP and ME) type network. Everything
is spiffy. I can access the internet, share files and printers, play games, everything
my network is supposed to do. Yay! After a period of time -- ranging anywhere from
5 minutes to 2 hours -- the connection on all machines dies at exactly the same time.
I can get it back by renewing the DHCP through the router. Then everything works
beautifully again for a short time. What could be happening? How do I fix this so
that my connection is consistent?

I use a Linksys BEFSR41 router and I copy the DNS addresses from the Status page
to the DHCP DNS addresses and that fixed my problem...

What happens if you manually set the IP addresses on each computer rather than relying
on DHCP.
You will need to include the:
Individual IP address
Subnet Mask
DNS Server IP addresses
