Many people confuse the two because of the similar names used by MS. Your pop ups are most likely from windows messenger service (alerter). Scroll down to "Messenger", select it, right-click and then choose Properties. Under startup type, choose 'Disabled' and then choose the 'Stop' button. After the service is stopped,click OK. After this, you will never see another pop-up message from the Messenger Service again. By the way this messenger service has no relation with MSN or other chat type messengers.. It will be necessary to "switch user", log on to the admistrator account and then perform the action.
