Question about 'Use the Third Mouse Button'

I have a question about Use the Third Mouse Button:

Thanks for the useful info. I have a problem however with the third mouse button (TMB). After upgrading to XP, the TMB now defaults to double-click. The control panel in XP only has three buttons defined, whereas before there were four (the thumb button). Now the thumb button double-clicks, and I can't see any way of somehow modifying this setting or getting the 'old', 4-button mouse control panel back, even attempting to re-install the older Logitech drivers does not work. The generic Mouseware drivers from Logitech do not 'add' the fourth thumb button either... Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks.

Try unplugging the mouse and rebooting...it,ll tell you you"no mouse detected"....re-plug the mouseand let Win find it again......If your not comfortable with keyboard controls only....dont do this...in case it fails..

A registry fix tells your machine which pointing device and how many buttons you
have

Also make sure you have the latest mousware installed. I guess the software is generic
for all logitech mices.
