This puts the file on the Recent Files list, so Explorer periodically "looks" for it. Check there, and remove any file references to the floppy. Sometimes people rather stupidly end up with a reference to a file on the A:\ drive in their startup folder. The problem was the recent list. I emptied that and all was well. I had also tried removing the floppy from device manager and letting it re-install but to no good effect.
