I've been using BlackBox for Windows on my laptop [Win2k] for a couple of weeks. Hasn't crashed once, unlike some other shell replacements. bb4win is the best I've tried so far. If you want visual styles, this one is handy because it uses the same skins as the original Linux version. That's been out for ages, so there's plenty of skins available. The downside is there's not many plugins finished yet, but the ones there are are sufficient and you get a nice fontpack and sounds. ;) Btw, does anyone know who Desktop Ian is?

The site fails to acknowledge that this idea comes from Macintosh OS X, as will many
more of the things you will probably get in Windows Longhorn in 2006 except they
won't actually work of course. If you like this and don't want to have any Windows
anoyances at all, then you would be better off getting a Mac or you could try Linux.
Either one is way more prefferable to M$ which locks you into their shoddy virus
ridden software.

If you prefer something which emphasizes on function and speed but less aesthetic,
use blanch. I don't use my start button anymore since windows 95 til now. http://oneguycoding.com/
