Hello all.
i have just installed winXP and also service pack one. When it came to installing
the onboard sis 7012 audio driver it says :
"Cannot install driver", then "The name is already in use as either a service name
or a service display name". What is all that crap about?????
I have onboard soundcard. I have downloaded updated drivers from the motherboard
website.
Thanx for your time.
John

Apologies for the sarcasm, but, In my humble opinion, SIS means Sh*t-InSide. This
may not be a welcome suggestion, but you could do whatever the motherboard requires
to deactivate the onboard sound and pick up any of the less expensive Hercules, Creative,
or other sound cards... some for as little as $30... and get worlds better sound...
as long as it doesn't have an SIS chipset, that is. I don't know what your specific
problem is, but the error message apparently is telling you that there seems to be
a service-connected file on the computer that has the same name as at least one of
the sound driver files. Weird stuff! Did you, by any chance install XP over top of
another operating system? If so, previous system files and/or driver files may be
mucking it up.
