Start the Registry Editor
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Outlook Express
Right-click an open area in the right pane and select New > DWORD Value
Name it NoSplash
Double-click this entry and add the value 1
Exit Regedit

Office not the free piece of crap ... please reply.
Thanks.

Thanx Stef, your solution provided great help to me, i was really wondering what
was going on.
Outlook Hangs at the splash screen when it starts, but it was not because of the
splash screen. So it doesn't matter if it stays there or not, as long as the software
doesn't hang ;-)
Thanx again

Had a similar problem with outlook 2000 and found this to work. Rename the outlook
.dat files. Look to this link. This worked for me. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;305928&Product=out2K
Hope this works for you.

This is indeed the solution. For those whose Outlook Express version does not show
this option in Tools, see: [www.newfangled.san-jose.ca.us]

Does anyone know how to get rid of the splash screen on Microsoft Office Outlook
2003 on XP. I disabled instant messaging and it didn't change anything.

Use the splash screen killer at http://www.digitallis.co.uk/pc/SplashKiller/index.html
This moves the spash screen off the screen so that you cant see, hope this works,
put it in the startup folder. I never even had the option to turn off windows messenger,
as i uninstalled it long ago,
later
