Hi,

While I'm not sure what caused the search link to be
missing from your start menu, here are steps to get it
back:

- right-click on the 'Start' button
- select 'Properties'
- under the 'Start Menu' tab, press the 'Customize...'
button
- under the 'Advanced' tab, scroll down in the 'Start
menu items' window
- select the checkbox for 'Search'

A couple of caveats ...

1. Josh's suggestion will NOT work if you're using the Classic interface.

2. If you happen to have TweakUI 1.33 installed, the "Search Results" box on the Desktop tab must be checked in order for the Search function to work properly.

Hope this helps.

Get TweakUI, open it, then go under Repair, to the right select Repair Regedit and click Repair Now, it will restore the search as well as any other problems with the start menu.
