All you have to do is go to your control panel and find the sound scheme section
and under sound schemes click the blank one or NONE. This should do it. Or you can
customize it at the buttom. E-mail me if u have questions.

I am running into a problem with my sound schemes in WinXP. I personally like them
but after reinstalling my sound card drivers they are gone. I tried to go to windows
default sound schemes but that is indeed selected and yet there are no sounds when
I startup or shut down?
I know it's not that important but I would like to back up my system after I fix
everything. Also do you have any suggestions on a good back up program? System
restore is not working properly for me.
Thanks,
Danton

Hi
I've got exactly the same problem, only I was installing different software.
Did you ever get the problem fixed, if so what did you have to do.

A way to restore sound schemes that are "missing" is to put your XP CD in the drive,
restart, and select install. You will have a choice to do a repair install on the
second screen that pops up. This'll work for ya!

Hello, I have Windows 2000 and I'm having problems with the sound schemes. When
I start up and shut down the computer, there are no sounds. In the control panel
--> sounds/media, the Utopia sound scheme is selected. Also when I have incoming
mail in Outlook Express, it used to play a notification, but now it doesn't, and
I've looked at the sound settings for that in the control panel and in Outlook.
Can you help me get the sounds back? timstone00@hotmail.com Thanks, Tim

Wendy, et al:
I installed a new USB-2 card and now my computer cannot find any audio devices, although
everything worked fine before. Does anyone know how I can force my machine to find
its audio section? I used the BELARC ADVISOR before I installed the USB card, and
it says I have (had): C-Media SB-16 device, C-Media Windows Sound System WSS Device
and MPU-401 compatable driver. Thanks in advance, Jim

How do I add or remove sound events from Control Panel?'

Just wondering if any can tell me how to add a new event. I.E. a program in the sounds
event list. I'd like to add sounds like I did in 98 with the program "Sound Association
by LEEOS, Inc. But I've not found anything for XP. And when I add a program directly
to the registry I still get no where. Windows XP just ignores the addition.

Looking for the same you're looking for. A "Sound association" version that works
under Windows XP. Did you find it or any other application to achive this? Any idea
how to do it by modifing the windows registry? Thanks in advance:)
