Office XP Serial Number Problem

My laptop crashed last week, must be Windows, and I had to rebuild the system and
of course re-install all of my software. I have 2 licenses to Office XP and not
knowing which one was installed on which machine, I tried to find the serial # on
the desktop…good luck, so I flipped a coin.
When the software went to activate it came back with an error that it was registered
to another machine, of course. Is there a way to:
1. Check Serial Numbers
2. Change serial #’s on the installed machines
Or am I out of luck and do I need to reinstall once I figure it all out?
