Sony Vaio Laptop Advenced power management

I have a sony vaio laptop running xp and the windows power settings have disappeared. They can only be managed through the sony powerpanel now but could originally be managed through the Windows XP power management option. I would like to know why this occurs?

Also, does anyone know of power management problems with sony vaio laptops. The model of this laptop is PCG-8E1M (or is that PCG-GRS515SP as stamped to the lower left of the screen).

Many Vaio F series machines develop a problem that seems APM-related, but power management actually only provides the symptom. After booting up successfully (or, in extreme cases, not at all), APM senses that the system is overheating, and puts the processor to sleep. The solution is a rework of the processor board (not the mother board) to install components with greater heat tolerance.

Tom, I sent you my laptop through the services from www.vaioshutdown.com along with $170 in money orders. It has been a month since I sent my laptop and I have yet to hear from you. On your website you state "....your machine will normally be returned the next weekday after it is recieved...." Please contact me with information regarding my laptop. Thank you, Elizabeth Williams
