My P4 CPU is useless cause my Hard Disk is too slow I tried placing my swap file on a compressed partition but it only hung my PC for a few seconds. No noticeable change. Im using XP and 96 MB of RAM

Your disk is most likely not the bottle neck of your system
With 96 M of RAM you are living on you swap file
If you Carefully read Windows XP Home and Professional Service Configurations by Black Viper
and disabled any unnecessary services
you might get XP to run tolerably but XP needs 128 to work correctly and 256 or more to run well

Oh
I just noticed your ram size
you're way under optimal speed.

Hi, In simple terms you should have 512 MB or more of RAM. I started with XP at 256 MB and now have 1 Gig. Each time I increased the RAM the computer speed was faster. Good luck. Rob
