Question about 'What to do about a Page-fault, Illegal operation, or Fatal exception Error'

I have a question about What
to do about a Page-fault, Illegal operation, or Fatal exception Error:
I have a problem that occurs whenever I play an internet multiplayer game. After
a random time into the game, the computer will either just restart without warning.
Sometimes, the game will reboot to the desktop with an error stating 'the memory
could not be read.'
It happens whatever game I play, so I first suspected a memory problem. I can play
any game in single player without these problems though, so I'm sure its not memory.
I have completely reinstalled windows XP, but to no avail. I have also tried different
broadband internet drivers.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks all!

Make sure that the automaticaly restart option is not checked. /Control Panel/System/Advanced
tab/Startup and recovery settings. Then there is a checkbox under system failure.
This solved my problems of random restarts in games.

My computer was shuting down with the fatal error message periodicly. It was annoying
to have this happen unexpectedly. I read that it might be the video card software
that needed an updated driver. That didn't make sense because the card was brand
new. The other possibility was that the memory was bad. I ran a check with software
I downloaded showing the memory to be fine. Then I noticed that the memory voltage
was higher that it should be. So I changed it in the bios. Not the system seems
rock solid.

Well, I tell you what I did to help solve my problem with rebooting during game play.....It
helped subside the problem but didnt completely stop it. Set your refresh rate on
monitor at a lower setting thats reasonable for you,and lower setting to 16 bit rather
than 32 bit. Then within the game settings, lower your resolutions and AA settings,etc......It
allowed me to play for 20 minutes longer than when I had it all maxed out...Let me
know..
