Hi Guys, New to XP so please bear with me.But with regards to service window and to disable pop up messages.Where do I find this? Need step by step please.Been all round the houses so far and stillnot found it. Thanks.

George, click Start - Run - type services.msc then click OK, after that just follow the instructions in the Annoyances article.

If you go to Black Viper, there are files you can download or print out that tells you exactly what each service does and if you can disable it.

go to www.google.com and type in the search box: freesurfer.com . check out the tools/washboard....it's nice. this program stops about every pop-up there is. you should also download spybot seek and destroy. this program removes all of the dowloaded spywares in your computer. good luck!!!

Fellas, don't waste resources on third party programs to stop these pop-ups, you can do it right from inside windows itself. Just do this: 1) Right click on My Computer 2) Left click on Manage 3) Expand Services and Applications on the left column 4) Click on Services 5) Find the Messenger service on the right hand side and double click it 6) Set the Startup type to either manual or disabled I have LOTS of tricks tro get the very best out of any OS.
