If you have a computer from a major manufacturer, do yourself a favor and do some
research before you format your HDD.

Some mfrs, ex: HP, store the XP recovery information on a hidden partition on your
hard drive. If you totally wipe out the HDD, you will lose the ability to bring
back XP using that recovery partition. You will then have to order the recovery
CDs from your mfr, or you will have to purchase a retail copy of XP at the store.

In the grand scheme of life, you're better off with the genuine article from MS rather
than one of those hokey recovery CDs. But, I thought you should know this before
nuking the contents of your HDD.
