You protect yourself from email virus by purchaing and installing and run a good
Anti Virus Program. Don't open attachments you aren't sure of.
Download Spybot (free) and run it daily.

Gee Ricer, you mean YOU couldn't read his mind? You've been following this forum
long enough to have learned that surely. You dont try to read the mind, read between
(and beyond) the lines, then guess. Works occasionally. ;o))

I have Norton Antivirus program installed on my PC. I have rune the antivirus program
several times and I have found no virus. The norton program says my PC is clean.
I update my antivirus program weekly.
My concern is that this message is loaded on the MSN server and that it reloads on
to my PC every time I contact MSN for email.
I have repeatedly deleted the offending email from the email que but it always reappears
in my email inbox within seconds.
I have also tried blocking the email but it still repears.
So what should I do next?
Thanks for your time and help.
Patricia.

It would help to know what message appears on your server and reloads to your email.
This could be virus, trojan or something that MS thinks you need to see.
I'd suggest running Spybot (which finds different things than Norton) immediately.
See link...
http://security.kolla.de/
You might run Norton Online scan also. Visit their site.
A more descriptive rundown on this email is needed to do any more for you.

To Tom Swanson: Here is the copy of the problem e-mail as I received it:
Tuesday, June 17, 2003 8:58 a.m.
(There was a large "i" in shown on a sheet of paper followed by this message.) Message
Could Not Be Displayed.
MSN Mail could not retrieve the message body from MSN Hotmail. Check to make sure
you are still connected, and then try again.

Unless you KNOW the sendor, and they have verified that it is OK, I think that for
your own protection delete what you have and forget the rest. Most people that spend
much time online and use their own email, as I do, get increasing amounts of stuff
we wish we hadn't seen....and sometimes things that we can't get rid of without major
surgery.
If you want to receive everything sent to you, you need a server who will pass everything
through. Some will not make exceptions to their filtering. Good Luck

You might also ask MSN to look at it and evaluate the problem, and get rid of it
if required. If you can't get it out of you inbox, they are the only resort IMO.

Mailwasher Pro is a good anti-spam software to protect yourself from unsolicited
mails and viruses. Try it from www.firebreach.com
