Well, assuming a format and re-install is not a option then I would suggest you grab
hold of a program like Spy-Bot, which is great in removing all sorts of nasties from
your machine. (I think the author is upto spy-bot 1.1)

I have downloaded spybot 1.2, but it neither detects nor eliminates livegirls.exe.
I'm perfectly willing to wipe the machine in question, but I would like to know if
there is a "real" method for fighting this software that doesn't involve wiping the
machine.
I have fought it on different levels, such as booting to DOS and killing folders,
having my anti-virus quarantine the folders, and yet it managed to hang on... does
anyone know where the registry keys are for it?

Go to Settings ==> Control Panel ==> Add / Remove Software and then remove LiveGirls
program. After that go to C:/drive and delete the blankdialer folder and then reboot
the machine.
This is a temporary fix as for some annoying reason this program keeps on installing
itself again and again. I am myself trying to get rid of it completely. Will post
the solution if I find one.

I have been having this problem as well. Altho I am running Win98, I have tried
most of the suggestions here short of formatting my hard drive. I tried Spy-bot
with no success altho I will keep using it because it seems useful.
Here is another suggestion... go to this site http://www.aumha.org/a/noads.php and
follow the directions. When you first open this page it will tell you if there is
a parasite on your system.
I followed the directions and went back to the URL and it stated there were no parasites
and now I hope, no more livegirls.

when livegirls downloads, it downloads with it a parasite called "DialerOffline,"
which then downloads a parasite called "RapidBlaster." This is why livegirls will
continue to download over and over. If you go to http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/DialerOffline.html
it will tell you how to manually remove DialerOffline. I just tried and it removied
both DialerOffline and RapidBlaster. Hope it works.

I am also having problems with Live Girls. I have tried all the above methods and
they are all temporary, it still comes back..I dont know what triggers the dam thing..
at first I noticed that the install procedure would start whenever I hit my bookmark
to go to yahoo mail, now it just seems that if I leave my Internet explorer session
going too long it will start up again. I have used Spybot and Ad-aware and it deletes
everything it identifies, but still it loads. Is there a way you can specifically
prevent the .dll file and the blankdialer directory from being created?

We tried the fix as recommended by KC and it worked - for about an hour. Then we
realized that we still had a Rapidblaster.exe file in our Winnt files. It didn't
want to delete because it was still running. So we used Task Manager to blow away
a process named rb-something and then deleted the .exe. A combination of this plus
KC's instructions has kept us Live-Girls-free for over 12 hours now, so our fingers
are crossed...

My roommate cursed me with the same parasite last weekend while I was gone away and
I have been annoyed by the same problem. I tried KC's method and it did work overnight,
I was quite happy, then suddenly it installed again this morning. Where exactly
in the WinNT folder is the rb something.exe? I don't see it in the Task Manager
or in the NT folder. If anyone finds a permanent solution, please let me know.

Our rapidblaster.exe was in the \WINNT\System32 directory. The rb process we killed
was found under the processes tab in Task Manager. We also logged off the internet
when we did all the maintenance to make sure the thing couldn't re-install itself
while being scrapped.
18 hours and counting.

OK - I think I have a fix. The reason I am saying that "I think ..." is that I still
have not been able to isolate the root cause of the parasite but have been able to
contain it for last few hours (8 to be precise).
Do the following -
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE ADMINISTRATIVE ACCESS TO THE MACHINE. DISCONNECT FROM THE
NETWORK BEFORE DOING THE FOLLOWING
1. Uninstall the program LiveGirls from the Add/Remove programs
2. Delete the C:/BlankDialer folder
3. Run the following from the DOS command line (I did this for Win 2000)
regsvr32.exe /u "%WinDir%\System32\DialerOffline.dll
4. Right Click the following file - WINNT/System32/DialerOffline.dll
and select Properties. On the Security Tab, UNCHECK the box that says "Allow inheritable
permissions from parent...." Make sure that all the Read / Write / Execute privileges
are unchecked or in other words disabled.
5. Delete all the files in the following folders
C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
6. Delete all the files in the following folder
C:\Documents and Settings\\Cookies
7. Empty the recycle bin
8. Reboot the computer
The above process unregisters the notorious dll file from the Windows registry (Step
3) and 'disables' (Step 4) the dll that is responsible for this annoying parasite.
The reason I don't sound overly optimistic is that there is some program that downloads
this dll from the Internet everytime it doesn't find this file (I presume that's
what's happening) and installs the LiveGirls program. With this file still existing
but completely disabled, it can not be operated, read or written to or deleted.
This way apparently the rogue program gets fooled that the dll exists and doesn't
download again. The downside of this fix is that you get rid of the problem (still
keeping fingers crossed) without getting rid of the problem program.
I hope that this fix works. Will keep you posted if nothing happens over next one
day or so.

I found this on the web as well.. it's a tool that scans your system and removes
any RapidBlaster crap.
I've been trying to get these Live Girls off trying the methods above and it works
for a short time but comes back. I ran the tool and it found a DonkySoft file that
is RapidBlaster, so it's worth a shot!
Also searching for any files that have stripplayer or IEAccess in them as they are
also related to this nightmare.

Guys,
My Brother-in-law has this problem with his PC. He is connected to my router which
has content filtering abilities. I wonder if I can delete all the problem files
and block the content with my NAT router with anything containing dialer to prevent
the stupid thing from re-downloading itself. Anyone tried this?

I ran the Spybot S&D program last night. It removed LOTS of stuff from my computer,
may too much! After reading more about the RapidBlaster stuff today, I thought I
would give the RapidBlaster Killer and Hijack This a try. They downloaded fine. When
doubleclicking both of them (not at the same time!), an error message came up: A
required .DLL file, MSVBVM60.DLL, was not found. What could have happened? I didn't
manually delete anything from the registry. The only things manually removed were
the livegirls icon on my desktop and the blankdialer folder from my C drive. Any
clues?

Make sure they aren't marked read only. If they aren't, log in as the system administrator
and take ownership of the file(s) / dir(s) that you cannot delete then delete them.
If the problem is they are locked (in use), reboot and go into Safe Mode Command
Prompt Only then delete them. Good luck.

LIVEGIRLS / Blankdialer Parasite

We had the same problem, but found the following help page. http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/
The page/program checks your system, identifies the parasite programs and tells you
EXACTLY how to get rid of them. My PC had FIVE parasitic programs on it and I finished
getting rid of them last night. LIVEGIRLS / BLANKDIALER was not even the most difficult
to delete. I am impressed and grateful for that webpage's authors. I am a mom using
a PC with an XP platform, and I got tired of these porn popups coming up in front
of my kids. I have a popup blocker but still wanted to get rid of any sneaky programs
I didn't ask for. Give it a shot!
